Unic Press UK: The Nigerian government would spend $1 billion [£711 million] to purchase materiel for the country’s military, reports Bloomberg, citing an emailed statement on Wednesday from the Defense Minister Mansur Dan Ali.
The position of the government was conveyed by Ali after a meeting between military chiefs and President Muhammadu Buhari.
Nigeria is facing enormous security challenges, including attacks by the Jihad-driven terrorist group known as Boko Haram and incessant destruction of lives and properties by nomadic herdsmen.
