Chinese President Xi Jinping Pledge Allegiance To Constitution

Unic Press UK: The President of the Peoples Republic of China (PRC), Xi Jinping, Saturday in Beijing, took the solemn oath of office after being elected as Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission of the country.

“I pledge to be loyal to the country and the people, be committed and honest in my duty, accept the people’s supervision and work for a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful,” Xi said.

Xi, 64-year-old, was elected as the President of China on Saturday, during the first session of the 13th National People’s Congress.

Xi Jinping became president in March 2013. His reelection Saturday is on the grounds that there is no limit to the number of terms of office, given that the National People’s Congress – the national legislature of the PRC – recently scrapped term limits for the president and the vice president.
