NCP Condemns Senseless Killings In Benue

We join the good and peace loving people in Nigeria to grief with the people of Benue State and other States who have lost their family members in these senseless killings going on across the nation.

We the members of the National Conscience Party (NCP) like to condemn in the strongest terms the unfortunate killings of the Benue State people, Mambila plateau, Numan in Adamawa state, Kaduna state, Zamfara state and other States.

We have followed the events and observed with dismay the inability of the federal government to stop the killings and bring the killers to book. It is not just one tribe attacking and killing one another but a reflection of the failure of the present led government to protect the lives and properties of the citizens. Conscious that the protection of lives and properties is the primary and most sacred responsibility of government, there is no better word than to say clearly that the government is showing incapability of leadership of a country taunted to be the giant of Africa.

We will like to call on the Federal government to as a matter of urgency deploy troops of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies like they have done in many other situations with the Rivers state as a very recent example to curb the menace of the herdsmen, kidnapping and other attacks not just in Benue State but the entire country. We demand that government should clearly mandate the security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of these dastardly and diabolic acts. Until they are fished out and brought to book, we make bold to say that the government of President Muhamudu Buhari must show the political will to deal with the matter not complacency and slow in taking decisive steps in the killings going on in the State and beyond , but relatedly, we would like to call for the immediate overhauling of the country’s security apparatus.

It is our conviction that the killings are a test run on the capacity of the government to seek for second term mandate in 2019 and we call on well meaning people to REJECT the present arrangement that cannot protect our lives, properties and our nascent democracy.

We urge everyone concern not to play politics with the lives and properties of Nigeria’s as enshrined in the constitution and as sworn by any leader .
