Unic Press UK: The Chinese government has called for talks between the State of Palestine and the State of Israel as the means for solving the convoluted differences between the two neighbors.
A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Lu Kang, who disclosed China’s preference for constructive dialogue between the two parties, also disclosed China’s support for an independent Palestinian state [on the basis of the 1967 borders] with East Jerusalem as its capital city.
China’s disposition towards a two-state solution and its clamor for an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital city echoes the stance of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
As a sequel to the United States president Donald Trump proclamation that Jerusalem is the capital city of Israel, the United Nations on 8 December 2017 reiterated its position on the matter.
“The abiding position of the United Nations on Jerusalem was that the city remained a final status issue to be determined through a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to be negotiated between the two sides concerned on the basis of relevant United Nations resolutions and other agreements, the Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process told the Security Council today.” (United Nations: 8th December 2017)
