Allegations Of Russia ‘Meddling’ In U.S. Election Is ‘Spy Hysteria’, Nonsense – Putin

Unic Press UK: The Russian president Vladimir Putin on Thursday denounced the incessant negative labeling of Russia, including allegations that the country interfered with and influenced the United States elections, as nonsense and spy hysteria.

During his annual news conference, which held on Thursday, Putin said:

“It is a globally recognized practice when diplomats, even government officials, meet with all the candidates, their teams to discuss certain issues, and development prospects. What is wrong with that? Why should it evolve into spy hysteria?”, the Russian News Agency, TASS, reported.

The Russian president, in a veiled reference to the pro-Hillary Clinton groups and the U.S. Democratic Party, whom he believes are desperate to undermine the U.S. president Donald Trump by alleging that Russia interfered with and influenced the outcome of the 2016 U.S. presidential election, said:

“All that was invented by the people who are in opposition to Trump to make his work illegitimate. I find this very odd, frankly speaking. It seems to be done without realizing that, by doing this, people harm the country’s domestic political climate and weaken the capabilities of the elected head of state. That means that they have no respect for all those who voted for him (Trump),” Putin said.

The former FBI director Robert Mueller is currently the special counsel who’s leading the investigation into the Trump campaign’s links with Russia and Moscow’s alleged interference in the 2016 United States election.
