Russia, Egypt Ink $21 Billion Deal To Build Nuclear Power Plant In Egypt

Unic Press UK: Russia will build Egypt’s first Nuclear Power Plant, following an agreement signed Monday between Moscow and Cairo in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Egyptian counterpart Abdelfattah El-Sisi.

The project will be constructed by Russia’s atomic energy corporation ROSATOM – one of the largest companies of the Russian Federation.

Speaking in Cairo in relation to this project, which is another milestone that advances Russia’s economic interests, political influence and geopolitical stakes in the Middle East, the Russian President Vladimir Putin, who arrived in Egypt on Monday on official duties, said:

I am pleased to note that our economic links are developing at a fairly high pace, and we really have a lot of good projects ahead.” 

Egyptian president El-Sisi, praised the closer ties between his country and Russia, saying during a press conference that an entente cordiale existing between both countries had been based on “strength and continuity”. He also said:

“Since the 1950s and 60s, Russia has always supported Egypt and still supports our country”
