Vladimir Putin: “Yes I Will Run” For Presidency In 2018

Unic Press UK: The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, said he will contest 2018 Russia presidential election, which will hold on March 2018.

“Yes, I will run”, Putin said during a parley with the workers of Gorkovsky Avtomobilny Zavod (GAZ) – a Russian automotive manufacturer situated in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.

Putin’s political career

He was president for two terms, from 2000 until 2008. He became prime minister in 2008, staying in office until 2012 when he elected president  for a third term.

Other candidates

Other candidates includes Vladimir Zhirinovsky (Liberal-Democratic Party), Gennady Zyuganov (Communist Party), Russian Journalist Yekaterina Gordon, Grigory Yavlinsky (Russian United Democratic Party YABLOKO), Ksenia Sobchak – 35-year-old socialite and television host, and Boris Titov (Party of Growth).

Election

“The post of the Russian president, elected according to direct suffrage, was introduced based on the results of a referendum on March 17, 1991. Any Russian citizen, not younger than 35 and who has been a permanent resident of Russia for at least 10 years, is eligible to hold the office of head of state”, TASS, the Russian News Agency wrote.
