Unic Press UK: The leadership tussle between two factions of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) was today laid to rest when the Supreme Court of Nigeria ruled that Ahmed Makarfi [not Ali Modu Sheriff] is the bona fide chairman of the PDP.
In its judgment, Bode Rhodes Vivour, JSC, said that the 2016 national convention of the PDP in which Makarfi emerged as the chairman of the national caretaker committee of the party was conducted in line with the party’s Constitution as stipulated under Article 35(5).
Ahmed Makarfi had filed an appeal at the Supreme Court after the Court of Appeal ruled that Ali Modu Sheriff was the substantive national chairman of the party.
